EBS Alcohol Tester

You can purchase the alcohol tester on our e-shop or by contacting your sales representative.

It is recommended to calibrate the device every 6 months or after 10,000 tests—whichever comes first.

A replacement alcohol sensor can be stored for up to 6 months. After that, it can still be used for testing for another 6 months. However, even when stored, the sensor must be calibrated at least once a year.

Basic Configuration of the Alcohol Tester

The internet connection via Ethernet cable is set to DHCP. Once connected to the internet, communication with the SYSDO server is established automatically.

1. Ethernet

The alcohol tester is set to DHCP by default. Simply connect the network cable. If an internet connection via Ethernet is not detected within 3 minutes after startup, the device will automatically start a WiFi network named Alcoholtester_… (see WiFi section). If no one connects to this WiFi within 5 minutes, the alcohol tester will restart and attempt to connect via Ethernet again.

2. WiFi

If no internet connection is available via Ethernet and no WiFi network is configured, the alcohol tester will create a WiFi network with the name Alcoholtester_[6MAC]_[XXX],
where [6MAC] represents the last 6 characters of the MAC address and [XXX] is a random 3-digit number.

Connect your mobile phone to this network. The password is alkotest. It takes approximately 3 minutes for the alcohol tester to create the Alcoholtester_… WiFi network. After connecting your mobile phone to the Alcoholtester_… WiFi network, open a web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.) and enter the address 192.168.4.1. A screen for WiFi configuration will appear. Press the Configure WiFi button, select an available WiFi network, enter the password, and confirm by clicking SAVE.

The alcohol tester will automatically connect to the selected WiFi network even after a restart. If the selected WiFi network is not available, the Alcoholtester_… WiFi network will be created again.

Editing the alcohol tester

Connected reader

You can find the IMEI on the bottom of the alcohol tester or inside the device.

The following reader models can be connected: SYSF203TP, SYSFX9, Hikvision DS-K1T342, Hikvision DS-K1T680. The Alcohol Tester inherits settings from the connected reader:

  • Zone
  • Timezone
  • Door opening time
  • Users

High Limit

When the limit is exceeded or reached:

  • The measured value will be marked as high

  • A high alcohol level notification will be sent

  • The door will not open unless allowed in the test rule setting “Open door when high alcohol level is detected”

  • Access to areas will be denied according to the settings in the test rule

Calibration

Calibration is recommended every 6 months or after 10,000 tests have been performed, whichever comes first.

A replacement sensor for the alcohol tester can be stored for up to 6 months. After that period, the sensor can still be used for measurements for an additional 6 months. However, even if unused, a stored sensor must be calibrated at least once per year.

User notification

It is possible to configure user notifications for high alcohol levels and sensor calibration (AdministrationUsers – edit user – Alerts).

High Alcohol Level – If a user under supervision exceeds the defined alcohol limit, a notification will be sent.

Alcohol Tester Calibration – Two types of notifications are sent:

  1. A notification is sent when the number of tests exceeds the set limit or a certain number of days before the maximum calibration period expires.

  2. A notification is sent when the maximum number of tests is exceeded or the maximum calibration interval has passed.
