Description of reader settings
The FAR and FRR parameters are part of the settings for the face recognition readers SYSF203TP and SYSFP815FTW. For proper face recognition performance, it is important to configure these parameters appropriately in the reader menu:
Reader Menu → Settings → Advanced → Face Detection Sensitivity
Normal Level (default) – provides a balanced ratio between security (low FAR) and user convenience (low FRR). The system rarely misidentifies users.
High Level – higher face detection sensitivity, which increases the likelihood that the system may reject even an authorized user.
Low Level – lower detection sensitivity, increasing the risk of misidentification or allowing unauthorized persons to pass.
Interpretation of FAR and FRR parameters
AR = 0.01% → Theoretically, 1 unauthorized person out of 10,000 attempts could pass.
In practice, it is highly unlikely that the system would mistakenly identify someone as another user.FRR = 1% → Approximately 1 out of 100 authorized users may be rejected by mistake.
This is still an acceptable value, and most users will pass without any issues.
The SYSF203TP terminal has parameters FAR 0.01% and FRR 1%:
FAR 0.01% – 1 unauthorized person / 1 user mismatch out of 10,000 attempts.
The SYSFP815FTW terminal has parameters FAR 0.00001% and FRR 1%:
FAR 0.00001% – 1 unauthorized person / 1 user mismatch out of 10,000,000 attempts.
User authentication troubleshooting
Frequent User Mix-ups:
Increase the Face Detection Sensitivity parameter to High – this improves detection accuracy, but some users may need to adjust their head position, lighting conditions, or distance from the terminal to be recognized successfully.
Frequent Rejection of Registered Users:
Decrease the Face Detection Sensitivity parameter to Low – however, this increases the likelihood of allowing unauthorized persons to pass or incorrectly identifying users.
